A winged tabby has dropped by to say hello to his koifriend (ahaha). The sun is throwing afternoon shadows through the garden in the background onto the white patio. Wonder what they're talking about... For you koi pond owners, you may think it's odd having a pool edge like that. My parents converted their swimming pool into a gigantic koi pond, so the edging depicted here is what I grew used to seeing. It really is quite beautiful and magical by a koi pond. :3 I was really trying with lighting here, buuuut...failed? It was supposed to be midday, but then I chose the wrong color for the patio and then BOOM it looked like afternoon. SIGH. Oh well!

Felysial (pronounced fel-iss-ee-al) is a 3rd edition Dungeons & Dragon's character of mine. She's a thief/fighter/sorcerer (she shows an interest in everything). When she's not out saving the world, her favorite pastimes are playing "sneak and pounce" with her friends, murdering small critters, sleeping and taking shiny things (to keep them safe, of course). I threw down a basic pencil sketch on paper, then scanned it in and colored it in Photoshop. The background was stolen from an old sketch of mine, which I then colored in Photoshop. Some interesting factoids: The stones are supposed to be very ancient ruins that are mostly buried and have been softened by several millennia of windswept fields. To the viewer' right, left of Felysial, a stone is inscribed with the ancient runes of Nug-Soth, a language associated with H.P. Lovecraft's Mythos. It spells out the name of yours truly. Finally, the magic runes on her bow say 'Felysial'.

Mandala Intro Graphic by Swandog

I've seen many fine artists' galleries that have intro graphics on their main pages, and I like the look and idea of them, so I finally made one for my own site. This "mandala", for lack of a better term, symbolizes much of what I am and what I love. I've always been obsessed with Celtic knotwork, Art Nouveau (Alphonse Mucha's works in particular), Medieval heraldry and carousel art, and so I've tried to combine all these styles into one. My fursona and otherkin/totem creature is of course Swandog (swan/saluki gryphon), with a hidden unicorn side that few previously knew about (thus the horn in the center). I'm also a nocturnal person and love pastels, ivy, waterlilies, pearls, seashells, luna moths, stars, the moon, ribbons, tassels, spirals, feathers and wings. And being a Christian, I've included a Chi Rho symbol as well. The ivy border and wings were borrowed from my favorite of Mucha's images, and the knotwork was inspired by the awesome artist of Castpaper.com. :)

I have to admit I'm not crazy about this one, it was rather a bit rushed, the coloring's not great, and I don't like the composition enough to bother much with fixing it up now that the critique's done. I did make a point of working out the perspective on this- if you look closely, you can see a grid on the ground in perspective, I was planning on showing a tile floor, but as time was limited, I didn't end up bothering much with it.

Tarot - The Fool by Denali

One of these days I'll finish this deck! Lots of little symbolisms in this one. Instead of the classic dog, I used a butterfly...is he a travel companion, or is he trying to warn the cat? The cat's stride is quick and confident, being the optimist that he is--he'd better watch his step! Yellow is the color of importance in "The Fool", so I used it prominantly. The rising sun symbolizes new beginnings, new ventures. His walking staff is of diamond willow, a tree that grows throughout the far north where men sought their fortune. On his lyre are carved acorns, for from the humblest little acorn the mighty oak may grow. I forgot to put in the rosebuds, though... so I will be redoing this one. Tarot is a good project if you're a research fanatic, and I definitely am. :)
